Steps to Create a Proper Video

October 27, 2018

Also you do not need sophisticated production or editing equipment (even if it can improve your final product). Probably your smartphone already contains a good quality video camera. So, what are you waiting for?

Find a good camera. An 8-megapixel camera or better will work properly.

Pick a good location. Find a place. Somewhere outside, a room with many windows or a well-light room. Avoid dark rooms or rooms with only one light source.

Get a good angle. You should probably position the camera at shoulder height or higher. If you're shooting a motionless video, a good shot usually has the character's back to the center and the waist or knees down. ALWAYS take a short video test before recording the content. If you want to add more cameras, each recording from different sides.

Speak clearly.  If you're talking about a topic, know what you're talking about. If it's a real speech, create a script with the bullets. Practice recording to learn how to be strong and not stutter. Unless you are a talented orator, you will lose yourself.

Be alive!  Act as if you were talking to someone. Do not read your script, just touch the main points. Do not look at the camera or any other object. Even if you stand in front of the camera, move the weight, use limited gestures, talk more than monotonous and use your face to strengthen your words. If possible, add beats even if they are lame.

Transfer for editing. If it's on a phone, download it to YouTube. To download you must have a Google or Gmail account, but it is easy (and free) to register. You can create private or public videos if you want to keep them for yourself or share them. If your phone / camera can not, copy it to your computer and change it.

Edit on YouTube.  It works better on Google Chrome (browser). Search on Google "youtube editor", log in and choose all the videos you've downloaded. You can learn how to change this feature on How to use the YouTube video editor.

Make short clips. Crop the dialogue without interruptions or a scene that must be one and the same piece. Change your shot every 1-10 seconds. It may seem extreme but it is very important. Use this option to remove errors or areas without content in your video.

Use simple transitions. Do not use the reverse, rotating, melting, broken, fused, enlarged or unpleasant animation. Even if they seem interesting, they will not make your video interesting. The best transitions to use are the fading in closing (on YouTube, choosing color fade -> black) or no transition (also called difficult transition). Also others that can be used are; blend with white, blur, dissolve and dry.

Add effects and filters. Determine if your video should be brighter or darker, rotated, stabilized or if the sound is cut off for some clips. In this case, all these options can be performed using the YouTube Editor.

Publish your video! You can choose whether everyone can see it or if only people with a link can see it or if only you can see it. If you want a copy of your video, choose "Not Listed", then use one of the many YouTube downloaders to access your computer.
